More on the anti-versary and NOLA's anniversary

You can read the first part of the title as "Moron: the anti-versary" but no, don't. So while I lament the end (when it was good it was amazing, when it was bad it was absolutely awful, there was rarely middle ground) I am glad of the things that have come from it. Wait, have I blogged about this already? If so, I'm doing it again because it deserves it. Anyway, i've met some amazing people who have become close, and most definitely best friends. Sort of like joining a sorority, no(yes, I do have the t-shirts, just like a sorority)? I've discovered a lot of good stuff locally (music, vendors, restaurants). I've learned my limits, what I can expect from myself and what I don't want in a potential mate for life. I've learned that I'm not a heartless bitch and I CAN allow myself to love another person and not just flit from clique to clique without developing emotional attachments. I've also learned to not date musicians unless you do (ambiguous? yes), and don't date an unrepentent, proud addict.

Plus, you know it's been a year since Katrina, and if you don't, well, perhaps it's time to turn on a tv or radio or step outside the house. I've spoken to a few co-workers and pals with ties to NOLA and they need your tourist doll-hairs. They are apparently so happy to see tourists, which is a different reception than I remember getting when I made my way there two years ago (damn, has it been that long?).

Why don't we all go to New Orleans? We can stay at the St Peter's Guest House (two blocks from Bourbon! One of the New York Dolls died there! Excellent 24 hour bar/restaurant across the street!). I'm as serious as a heart attack here. Let's go. I'll even price it for you and buy you your choice of a Hurricane or a Hand Grenade when we get there.

Don't forget, Mississippi had a hurricane too.
