    Like I never left

Tonight in class we watched Dick Tracy. Big deal. What I really want to talk about is the choice of music on campus. No, this is a good thing. I go to a particular place on campus for dinner before class. The food is good and I usually pick a quiet seat close to the back. The music they play is a satellite station of music from the nineties. Well, I spent about seven and a half years of the nineties pursuing some form of education, so hearing these songs just reminds me of the good ole days. Only my campus didn't have a dining option this delicious, and they definitely did not serve beer.

Well, hell. I'll talk about Dick Tracy. I don't know if you were still around at the time, but I had a Dick Tracy shirt that I lived that whole summer when the movie came out. I was so proud of it. When I finally saw the movie I was so disappointed. The best thing to come out of it was the Madonna soundtrack, and that's not saying much.

The Dick Tracy Summer was my last one in FL, and we took a two week youth group trip that involved Washington DC, King's Dominion, NYC, and then a Young Life camp (why young life and not montreat like other good PCUSA youth? no idea). I remember any time we stopped at McDonalds (often) we'd grab some of the scratch offs they were offering. I don't remember HOW you won, I think it involved matching up some bad guys, but I know we did a lot of scratch offs on that trip summer.

And then a couple of years later a friend gave me a copy of "I'm Breathless" which had its moments.

And then last week I finally saw the damn movie so it all finally made sense.
