    Holiday media

So, in the past I've refered to this season as the I Love Jesus holidays. See, I think that Christmas has now officially become its own entity. Christmas season means traffic, spending tons of money, terrible songs, trees, lights, and feelings of inadequacy. I Love Jesus season is much shorter and involves togetherness, church, hymns, harmony, joy, and Jesus.

I had an arguement the other day about the song "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer." I hate it, it's a dumb song, and i was vocal about this. I was told it's no different from other holiday songs. Well, yeah it is. It's a bad song in any season. It's like comparing "My Humps" to "Can't Do A Thing."

If you're looking for a media escape I recommend the following:

I enjoyed "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" when I was about 7. Wait, it might not have been out then, but it had to have been close. Maybe 14. I never got my grandmas' opinions on it.

I watched Head for the first time while putting the Christmas cards togther this year. And Velvet Goldmine too but not for the first time. Both combined made for a somewhat surreal holiday atmosphere. But I didn't think Head was that bad, certainly not as bad as that awful VH1 monkees movie where the guys do nothing but whine all the time.

i think I enjoyed it for about five minutes.

did you see Jack Nicholson in Head? I like the comment on their image, how they wish to see themselves vs how the american public perceived them. Also, Mike Nesmith is hot.

some band, I cna't rmeember the name, did a music video that was basically an homage to the porpoise song scene in Head. it's one of those alternapop bands that I don't care for, but you could probably google it and figure it out.

    also, I love velvet goldmine.

I did! And I didn't know about it until I watched the bad VH1 movie (really, the guy that played Jack was HORRIBLE) so I knew to look out for him in Head. What was weird is that I went to bed and the awful movie was on, then I got up and it was on again in almost the same place as when I went to bed, so I said fuck it and just left it on. Then later that night Head came on, so it was monkees overload.

I am also a Mike girl, but I think Peter would probably do in a pinch.
