What I've learned
4/15/2007
I've not been here in a very long time. Now, in the interest of the end of the semester, I'll like to let you know what I've learned. 1. There is nothing soy can't do. Seriously. Firstly, Kate's now married. Congratulations! Everything was beautiful and the reception was fun. What does this have to do with soy? Well, the dinner was stuffed shells. Not just any stuffed shells, VEGAN stuffed shells. Swear, you'd have no idea you weren't eating ricotta. Oh man--so rich and delicious. Secondly, Angi recommended something--Better Than Cream Cheese. Tofu, right? How can tofu be better than cream cheese? No way. YES way. Angi has good taste. She's also got good kids. There they are, right over there. 2. I can draw. Of course, I have to have a picture to copy from, plus I have to have a grid. Seriously, is it talent when you can pretty much make a direct copy of an image? Tomorrow I pick up my portfolio with the comments. Perhaps I will post them here? 3. No matter how much fun you're having or how caught up in the moment you are, do NOT do ouzo shots. Seriously. 4. There is such a thing as too much sweet. After a wedding shower and a birthday (happy birthday Jacyn!) I'm in need of a new set of Islets of Langerhans. Labels: celebrations

Dayzzzzzzzzz
3/18/2007
It's been a long time, hasn't it? Well, it's been a crazy week. Let's update.
Seriously, there's something very appealing about living way out in the country in a cute little town. Of course, this would only be acceptable if I didn't work here in town. Labels: celebrations

Erin go braless
2/17/2007
How was your St Patrick's day? Mine was relatively green free, if you discount the green mini cupcake and the grass my ass fell upon. It started at a wiffle ball double header. Good times, but a little windy and chilly. I strapped on my skates with the new outdoor wheels and provided the outfield entertainment (which means I skated up and down the street). I only fell once, and of course it was my ass which suffered. They take this seriously. No joke. They've got stats going back to the sixties when Jimmy first created the rules. Here's a picture of Jimmy at bat. More wiffle ball pictures on my flickr account. Later was a trip out east, of course, to a cookout at Cricket and Mimi's. Good times. I left with a smile on my face and a stack of books to read. I even got to play pigs! I had to call it an early night. Damn straight it was a good day. Labels: celebrations, wiffle ball

All dressed up and lots of places to go
2/14/2007
So this morning I was due to drive to Memphis for a baby shower honoring young Holden the Guy. I look outside--snow. I don't think much of this, but then I look at the state highway reports and see that past Jackson there's some ice. I decide it's better that I not go. I fall back asleep, knowing that Jesse the Guy is probably not yet awake so I go back to sleep for a couple of hours intending to call in my regrets. During this time I have the television on MTV where they're showing a marathon of their stellar programming, in this case it's My Super Sweet Sixteen and Underage and Engaged (or vice versa). I drift in and out of sleep not knowing which part is on television, which part is my dream, and whether or not my mom really did tell me that Britney shaved her head overnight and got some tattoos. You may be asking how my mom scooped me on entertainment news? Good question. She's never even looked at Perez Hilton. Anyway. I also have not one but five (that I can recall) dreams where I get up, go downstairs, call Jesse the Guy and get on with my day. I hate that. by the time I actually get going it seems so DONE. you know what I mean? BUt I do eventually call Mr the Guy who fully understood, and I do intend to visit Memphis in the next few weeks to visit little Holden. So I do my grocery shopping where I buy lots of sweets and some necessities. I catch up on DVRed stuff, good times, right? So the time comes to get ready for Kate and John's engagement party. I debate going. I'm excited to go because I really do like Kate and John and am very excited for their impending wedding but the roads are not so good and the snow continues to come down. Basically, the later it gets the worse the roads will get. I take my shower, shave the parts that ladies do, clip my frikin toenails even, and hit the road. While the road doesn't really hit back, it does throw out a gentle insult that made me rethink everything I know. So I slip a bit, pull over, call in more regrets, and head home. And here I am. THe picture above was taken of me in my engagement party finery. Also, more pictures added to my flickr account, including a couple of pics from before the very first nashville rollergirls interleague bout. Labels: celebrations, drama, pictures

How did you spend your valentine's day?
1/01/2007
I started the day getting ready for some screen printing. After a few false starts I ended up in my dark room (it's actually my laundry room outfitted with two special lamps--one high wattage, one with a red bulb) burning the screen for Michelle's shirts.
A call from my boss let me know I had flowers at the office. See how pretty? Thank you, Steve! I have this tradition, I meet Ginger for bowling on Valentine's day. It started many years ago when we found ourselves single and not wanting to deal with the day. We decided to take the day off and bowl. That way we knew that we'd have an amazing day no matter what. Of course, Ginger outbowled me as she does every time we bowl, but that's ok. I then headed over to order new skates. New skates! I'm so excited! Next week... Then art store for more printing ink. Crafty night was at Kazu this week. I said we needed to have it there every single week. Seriously, it's a great place for it. My last stop was at Steve's, he's under the weather so I took him some soup. Finally, I printed Michelle's shirt and burned the screen for Molly's birthday tee. Her birthday was October so I'm very on the ball. I'm going to bed, goodnight y'all! Labels: celebrations, pictures

Happy new year to you all
12/23/2006
I didn't do the recap or the top fives this year as this year has been great but not nearly as tumultuous (praise Jesus) as 2005. Plus I didn't blog as much last year, this year you can simply look through the archives. Also, I'm lazy.
So I'm learning to sew. Yesterday mom and I went to the fabric store where I got a few patterns and some fabric. Today we cut out the panels. Tomorrow we sew. Good times, right? AS for nye, I started by driving far, far into the country for Jesi the Girl's celebration. It involved a most delicious dinner of brisket, mac n cheese, greens, black eyed peas, white beans, and cornbread. If you know me well you'll know a few of those items did not make their way to my plate. Everything was fantastic and it was good to see Jesi again after a little over a year. She's a great cook I must say. So I go from north west of Nashville to south east of Nashville. Quite a haul but worth it to spend time with the NASCAR crew (it's easier to day than to name them all individually). This means poker, mad libs, and filth. Oh, and more delicious food. I did manage to stay until the new year even though I was fading fairly early. So there was a little champagne, a kickline, and hugs and then I made my way home. I saw a few fireworks displays as I drove home. Now I'm at home and enjoying my favorite new year ritual: the Twilight Zone marathon on Sci Fi. My dog is upstirs and I'm going to turn out the night and sleep in a minute. It should be known that I'm not crazy about going out on the nye holiday, I actually came close to a pretty nasty car accident during the many stretches of driving I did tonight (it was not my fault--someone who'd obviously gotten an early start was drifting into the lane I was occupying). Of course, ringing in the new year at the corner of Bourbon and St Peter would be phenomenal. Perhaps next year. sigh. Oh, and in my drive from far west to far east I listened to the Garrison Keillor nye broadcast from right here in Naishville. Did anyone happen to catch it? As much as I'd like to believe that the whole meeting Vince Gill and walking around lower broad thing happened live as we heard it I am pretty sure it was pre-taped. Any thoughts? Where the hell did he buy the groceries on lower broad? even if it was live it was planned and scripted within an inch of its life. What did you do? Labels: celebrations, food

The whole "hanging out with Dr Gay" thing.
12/21/2006
After a quick gift exchange, a visit with the family, and a little old school sesame street we were off like a prom dress.
First we headed to Kate's for the annual Solstice Party. Honestly, I could've eaten the entire plate of chess bars. Really, they were excellent. Also there was a round of scattergories where Dr G and I shared first place with John's mom. Some highlights: person who wears a uniform: dominatrix (Dr Gay) something made of metal: Dokken (me) good times! But we were supposed to meet old pal Zach so we headed out to Play, a bar we'd never visited before. Wow. just wow. First, I should point out that there was this one girl who repeatedly went to the stage to tip the performers. She was absolutely gorgeous--amazing knockout figure, beautiful face, flawless skin. We later found out it was Calpernia Addams, she was apparently performing the next night (that would be tonight if you were wondering). This was a bit interesting as we'd been talking about the film Soldier's Girl on the way there. I thought I saw Joshua of Nemesis, but it really couldn't have been him. could it? I'm still not sure. Signs point to no, but if the twins had doppelgangers this guy could've easily been it. So we watched the drag performers. It was fun. And while our only listener Samantha couldn't join us we were very glad she sent the lovely Deception in her stead. After the first show ended we decided to leave. We ended the evening at the Hermitage Cafe, the best place to end an evening. Labels: celebrations, dr gay, food, nashville

boobaversary
Two years ago TODAY i had my boobies taken in a bit. I was wearing a 36F the morning of the surgery. Today I'm wearing a 38DD but it doesn't fit well, but it's Victoria's Secret so what do you expect? Their bras suck. I haven't had a proper fitting since shortly after surgery, that one was a 36D, and i've put on a bit of weight since then. also reduction boobs are kind of weird--they don't exactly function as normal boobs when encased in bras. Interestingly the bras I've bought post-surgery that fit the best are the ones I bought at the expensive bra store where I shopped pre-operatively, the only place at the time that had bras in odd sizes (of course, now Lane Bryant has larger cup sizes. too little too late you bitches).
