My experience with the gas shortage

It's still ridiculous. People have been queueing up at stations everywhere, and from what I hear it's often just to top of the tank. If anything comes from this I hope it's that people will trade in for more fuel efficient vehicles.

Another thing to remember is that there ARE busses and they don't anticipate that the shortage will affect public transport. My plan was to get gas today and if I couldn't I would take advantage of the MTA.

Luckily I got gas at 6AM today. My mom calls me on her way to work and tells me that a station about a mile awasy has gas and short lines.

    "But I'm in my pajamas!"
"Put a t-shirt on over them!"
"But I might be late for work!"
"Just tell them you had to get gas!"
"Mom, I don't think the people in line would be symp--oh you mean my boss. Right."

So I got there, got my gas ($3.99 for regular which isn't terrible--at least the stations aren't gouging like they could). No line and I know at least one pump was open, possibly more.

I might add that I wore no bra to the station--four years ago it would've been a necessity, now it's an option.

    Gas shortage

It's ridiculous. People are lining up everywhere. So I've got a quarter of a tank and a fuel efficient car so I've decided to park it and wait until monday. I think people are panicking and acting silly about the whole thing. how about you take advantage of this and stay at home? Take a walk? Not wait in line for hours?

That's what I did. I had a brow appointment for 12:30 so I loaded up the backpack and headed to the salon. It's only a mile and a half away and made me feel like such a slacker for not walking over there more often! I made it in time and decided to run a few other errands. I had a prescription that needed refilling so that was taken care of. I went to the TJ Maxx and replaced a broken umbrella and bought some good socks for my trip. I had a delicious lunch at a new place in the strip mall. I intended to walk back but my mom was at the dog groomer's so I hitched a ride back with her.

This made me set a new rule for myself: I can buy whatever I want at the TJ Maxx as long as I walk there and can carry said purchases back.

No, really, people are being idiots about this whole thing. I can't believe it. We're supposed to get more supplies early in the week and as far as I know busses are still running.

    I'm too olf for this.

    Seriously.

If you're wondering why I haven't written about many shows lately it's because I haven't BEEN to many shows lately. I am always sleepy and, to be frank, cheap as hell and not into driving across town. Last night was D Striker, and the draw here is that he only does shows on Fridays numbered thirteen. Since I haven't seen a D Striker show in about three years I figured it was time to get back and see him again.

It bears noting that I am always tired on Fridays. Seriously--if I'm at home I'm asleep by 8. I just can't do the good times lifestyle anymore. I really wasn't sure I'd be up for the whole evening. I started at the Untitled show out at the University of Phoenix near the airport. This is what I love about Untitled--every space is a potential gallery. Afterward I decided to go see Mandy but still wasn't willing to commit to a full night out.

I ended up having the full night out. It was fun!

I won't go into gory details because they're boring, but aside from the smoke (I tried to spend a lot of time outside to avoid it) I'm glad I stayed through since Hands Down Eugene reminded me why they're so great (even breaking out "Full Blast"!)Casey Sanders joined Hands Down Eugene onstage to sing "Calls and Walls" and "The Bleeder." I haven't heard these songs in ages. All that was missing was Katherine. D Striker is always hilarious and fun. Caitlin Rose was new to me and I was very impressed.

Kids in the Hall May 22 Ryman auditorium

The Kids in the Hall finally made it to Nashville. Hooray! Angi and I have traveled around 24 hours total to see them in other cities but Unfortunately this time things didn't line up for us to go see them together. Instead, we're going in our separate cities, but that's ok.

This was time #3 to see them live. I didn't document time #1 for some reason, but #2 is here (scroll down to 4/20, and ignore my bad grammar in one spot).

Honestly, it was funny, it always is, but not near as funny as Tour of Duty or Same Guys, New Dresses. Was it the lack of Sir Simon Milligan and Hecubus or Running Faggot? I like to think I'm not one of those fickle fans who clings to the recurring characters, but they're funny and one of the reasons for their success. Granted, I'm the first to get annoyed when I mention the Kids and someone says "Oh! I love the Headcrusher!" but ultimately I like the old favorites.

Dave seemed much happier to be there this time, but Scott was rarely in sketches.

Now, here's the recap. Let's see if I can I remember it. I tried to, but then gave up and enjoyed the moment.

I walked into the Ryman and bought my merchandise (i'm a sucker), and as I went into the theatre proper they were playing "Heterosexual Man" by the Odds. If you don't know the connection to the group, try to find the video on youtube. It started with the "Let's rape Kevin!" video which you can easily find online. Not only is it a good introduction, but it prepares you for how much they've aged in the last few years (I know it's inevitable, but it's still a shock considering most of them were so babyfaced when I first started watching). This led to an entrance that was fun and full of energy--very refreshing given the intra-troupe tension that was present at the last show.

The first live, proper sketch is hilarious, involving a hateful baby. Bruce's performance was hardly the focus of this sketch, yet he really stood out. It didn't upstage anyone but was subtle and hilarious.

Next was Buddy Cole. Buddy always pushes the envelope and this time was no different, yet he was still charming and hilarious.

The Gut Spigot, which featured the two salesmen and was full of hysterical physical comedy.

At this point I'm going to lose the timeline. Sorry, but I was having fun and dind't want to be obsessive about the experience.

There was a recurring sketch involving a time machine that started off as only mildly funny, yet paid off hilariously in the end.

Mark performed one of Angi's favorite sketches ever.

Kevin sang a funny song that pretty much sums up his goofy, self deprecating writing style.

Chicken Lady, of course! But not the date sketch that they'd performed the last two times. This time it was the phone sex sketch.

Speaking of recurring characters, Kathy and Cathie met for lunch and talked weight loss and Gavin was visited by Jehovah's Witnesses.

An intermission of sorts featuring the "Car Fuckers" video that you can find online somewhere.

An argument about an imaginary girlfriend.

A strange sketch (which means I believe it was written by Bruce) about dancing during which Scott reminded me why I just love him as a performer.

An odd sketch about two gay couples meeting for dinner.

    Superdrunk!

And end with the Headcrusher once again filming the audience, and then crushing the heads of all Kids (including his own).

Remind me if I missed anything.

Afterwards I ran into Jason who told me to hang on, that they were going to be in the lobby afterwards to mix and mingle. We waited, and after they loaded out through the lobby (why?) they showed up! They all seemed very nice. Yes, Bruce is short. Scott has aged very well. Dave was gracious and friendly and drinking a local beer.

    Weekend Roundup

It seems as though lately I do very little on the weekend. My week days are usually so packed that by the weekend I don't want to commit to anything, and I take things as they come. usually this means that after lots of sleeping and errand running I realize it's Sunday night and time to start over again. These last few weekends have been a pile of busy.

    • Visitor, Julie from California. Lots of things: Franklin street fair, tax free shopping, ghost tour, lots of country ham and biscuits.

    • Cinco de Mikeo, where the pretty princess celebrated his birthday with grandma vodka, fire, and rollergirl piles. Unfortunately bad weather curtailed my enjoyment and I left early.

    • Kate's surprise party. Fun! Some Ren Fair folks stopped by still in their outfits. Home-made sushi. Meat Loaf fun.

    • Friday night NarniaRoo. My dogs were invited so they came, and then were the reason I left. Denny was full of beans, and Flash wanted to chat. We left and I called it an early night.

    • Grill out at Robyn's in Pegram. Oh, such wonderful grilled meats! And a really cool location.

    • Karaoke at the Lipstick. It had been a few months and the place had changed--the bar has moved!!! It wasn't as packed as it used to be which was kind of sad, but allowed me to sing karaoke a few times. I'm so terrible at singing. Still can't understand why I continue! Again, bad weather dampened (ha!) my fun so I headed home fairly early again.

    • So, I ordered new wheels, I may have mentioned this. They're orange fugitives which are super grippy. I decide to take the bearings out of some other wheels and clean them. So I take them apart, use the speed wash, and put them together. This took WAY longer than I thought. Never again! I'll just buy new bearings!

    • Lunch out with Mom. Happy Mothers' day to all!

Cheese Toast $2.95 (cheese $1 extra)

I have to share this. Really. Disillusionment and all.

So, I had a snack attack. I usually don't get hungry until much later, but I couldn't control it and I didn't want my usual snack of carrots. Bread and Company has always had cheese toast that was really delicious and the price is right.

Well, that's the first snag. I order my cheese toast ($2.95 plus tax) and the total is $4.3something. Granted, my math skills aren't all that great in the morning, but I know there's not THAT much tax on food. I ask the clerk why and she says the mozzarella is $1. Well, then, which cheeses are included in the price? She looks at her register for a little while and tells me that cheese is $1 extra. Ok, but this is cheese toast, right? Well, she points out to me on the menu that there's a note that they add $1 for...cranberry bread (I wish the written word could appropriately display the shift in her tone as she finished reading that sentence). she goes to a manager. It's easily solved--and it turns out it's a feature in the computer register system (I'm guessing there's no way to put in the system which cheese you want, so it adds it on). Meanwhile, I notice the cashier next to her is wearing an "I'm Training" button. I've seen a lot of cashiers wearing this button lately--I guess turnover is high.

After this, I get to the section of the store where the breakfast items are made (if you're not familiar with Bread and Co, in this particular location you go to different parts of the store depending on what you're after. The breakfast counter later becomes the sandwich counter, and even later becomes the pasta counter). I see the lady using a microwave, and think how interesting, because I hate microwaves and wonder what she's up to because the restaurant isn't busy and I ordered toast. Well, she takes the item out of the microwave, does some things out of my sight, and hands me a styro container. I check the container first to make sure it's indeed mine and right. The first thing I notice is one of those napkin/condiment/cutlery kits sitting RIGHT ON TOP OF THE CHEESE. I grab it before it sticks.

I get to my office and sit down with my cheese toast. it's scantier than I remember, but hopefully still delicious. Nope, even that's a disappointment. It's clear that she didn't even toast the bread before microwaving it. Honestly, I could've made this myself in the office. They have one of those crazy toasters that runs the bread on a belt and drops it below and I know that logically, you can't make cheese toast with one of those. Still, I didn't go for soggy, microwaved bread with too much cheap mozzarella on it making it gooey (in a bad way).

I think Bread and Co has really gone downhill. The portions have shrank, the prices have risen, and the quality isn't the same. I used to love their pasta made-to-order but it's gotten too expensive to justify. The sandwiches are ridiculous. The chicken noodle soup is still wonderful (and now offered every day!), but the container has changed and I can't tell if I'm getting less soup. Probably not, but given the change in their other items I would not be surprised.

I tell a coworker about this and she says she's glad Panera is down the road and you can still get good stuff there. I'm fine with Panera, but I'd like for a local business to succeed without compromising everything.

    Poseur with cupcakes

Today I posed for an artist. It's part of an installation that features the roller girls and will open next month. If you're interested, email me for details and I'll tell you where to be and when to be there.

I showed up at the appointed time in my derby finery. The artist, Brenan, was lots of fun and quite talented so I really enjoyed my time standing in odd positions. It's going to be a great show, and the early versions look great. I desperately want to buy them they're so good, plus they're me, and I'm my favorite subject in the art world. So my guess is they'll be out of my reach financially but we'll see. But what if they were purchased by someone else? Seems odd to think about it. It's my image, right? So it's kind of personal. If this were the case it would kill me not to know why the person bought it, what they did with it, and what people thought of it. Is it me and the part of my personality I put forth? Is it the artist's interpretation? I'll let you know how it turns out. There are two pieces, one is Comanche in action, and one is Leah the knitter who likes to skate. I can't wait for you to see them.

Then I decided to check out a certain local cupcake bakery that recently opened. I know that this cupcake craze is several years old so we're obviously a little behind the times. I'd heard mixed reviews. Some people raved that they were sent from Heaven, some said they weren't ALL THAT (but beautifully presented). I had to try for myself. Verdict: meh. Artificial taste, dry cake, boring icing. I know some folks are absolutely thrilled with a 'cake junt in Nashville but I think the joy is a little short sighted; after all, two of my favorite bakeries (Dulce Desserts and Sweet 16th) sell amazing cupcakes as well as other baked goods. In fact, both places offer better cupcakes than this newcomer.

My Weekend as a Nashville Tourist pt 2: Legislative Plaza, Capitol, Hermitage Hotel

    State Capitol

    Korean War Memorial

    War Memorial Auditorium

This shot really makes me miss Summer Lights. I remember many times over the Summer Lights years standing up here and looking at the melee happening down this street.

That's the Hermitage Hotel in the center. It's beautiful, isn't it? It's like the grand old society matron impeccably dressed in a classic Chanel suit standing in a crowd of brassy new money broads draped in Versace.

    Andrew Jackson.

Tomb of Sarah and James K Polk

View of the Bicentennial Mall from the Capitol. It was at this point that I suddenly developed a fear of heights. We're not talking mild anxiety, we're talking full on feeling the Earth shift, and an intense need to get down and crawl the rest of the way to flat ground.

    Captiol

Statue of Carmack, a staunch Prohibitionist who was assassinated by a tippler. Underneath this statue is a tunnel to the Capitol named after Motlow, a man who was a partner in the Jack Daniel's distillery.

St Mary's of the Seven Sorrows, the oldest church in Nashville. There's also an interesting ghost story tied to this church but that's for you to google. Or take the Nashville Ghost Tour.

I then visited the Tennessee State Museum where they had an exhibit of country music memorabilia owned and exhibited by Marty Stuart. Of course it was Marty Stuart heavy but was definitely worth the visit. The items formerly belonging to Hank Williams were most interesting--letters written to/from Hank (the from usually requested money, the to seemed to be concentrating on Hank's poor behavior), his job ID card, and his report card (he was no good at PE). Oh, and a letter from Patsy Cline to Nudie detailing two dresses she wanted, measurements included. That Patsy was stacked apparently.

Then it was time to meet mom and the hotel. She waved to me from her room as I walked up the street. I was a little shy to ask to see the men's room, so mom was going to take me for an adult beverage in the Oak Bar where we would ask an employee.

Well, adult beverages were ditched in favor of a chocolate malt and a fancy lemonade--crisps on the side. That was a FINE chocolate malt shake, and the Oak Bar is just the classy sort of place you'd go to smoke a nice cigar and drink a fine scotch. Our waitress agreed to take us into the men's room which is just as cool as I thought it would be.

    Shoe shine stand

    Original floors

If The Matrix had a men's room, this would be it

If you find yourself downtown I do highly recommend you visit the Oak Bar and men's room. They're happy to show you, just ask. And ask them to show you the window where they'd serve women (the Oak Bar used to be MEN ONLY).

I love downtown Nashville. I love this city! The people I'm not so sure about, though.

My weekend as a Nashville Tourist pt 1: Opry and Hermitage Hotel

My mom organized a conference and as a result got us tickets to the Friday Night Opry. Good times! There is some weird family joke that one of these days I'm going to get in a fistfight with Little Jimmy Dickens; sure enough he was one of the hosts that night. It was a ton of fun as it always is but I was a little upset that the dancers don't perform on Fridays, only Saturday night. Still, the house got rocked by Charlie Daniels. He's a badass.

Now, before you go pooh-poohing the Opry, I want you to recognize it for the institution it is. When a performer is asked to join the Opry that performer is obligated to perform a certain number of times per year. And sure, some have seen more successful days, but this contractual agreement means that even the one hittiest of wonders still have an outlet. The crowd loves it--like I said, I was at the Friday Night Opry, not even the biggest night, and the house was PACKED, people were having a GREAT time. In fact, the house is often packed and people always have a great time. While I have little love for country music produced after 1990 I do have mad love for the Opry.

In addition, the Opry is now available on XM.

    But let's move on.

Saturday I decided to take a trip downtown to visit the classy Hermitage Hotel where Mom was staying. I needed to bring her a couple of things and, let's be honest, wanted to check out the hotel. It's ridiculously cool and luxurious and I really wanted to see the men's restroom. I'll explain more on that later.

Mom handed me the room key in a small book/envelope; inside the book was a map of the immediate area around the hotel. This helped me plan my downtown visit. I am terrible at geography and the downtown area is a mystery wrapped in an enigma and covered in a gorgeously intricately designed Nudie suit. I started at the Library and walked over to Mom's room where an immaculately dressed doorman opened the door for me. Yes, I said "thank you" and thought about even saying "but you don't have to do that for ME. I'm only visiting."

    Here's her room:
    Foyer table

Bathroom (not pictured: the large shower and the water closet)

Bed (there were tiny directed reading lights in the ceiling for each side of the bed)

    View from Mom's room

My flash doesn't work so this hallway looks ultra eerie. I'd never set foot in this hotel before but several years ago I had a particularly vivid dream about a hotel with nearly identical hallways.

These classy phones had the hotel's insignia on the center of the dial. The insignia was very similar to that of the Hollywood Tower Hotel (Disney fans will love that)

The White Stripes at the Cannery Ballroom

Yes, it was every bit as good as you'd think. better even.

It started the day before. I got an email that said tickets would go on sale at noon so there I was, trying well before the time. Hey, listen, I learned from trying to get breakfast in the castle with the princesses. You start minimum of ten minutes before to understand the process, then you pick up the pace within three minutes of the actual go time, and go and go until you're either jumping for joy or crying into your keyboard. So, I am successful--seriously, me, I was successful. I try to express this excitement to my co-workers but none of them understand. My mom does, though, as she loves the Jack White. I get an email shortly after from my friend Michelle, she was unable to get seats. seriously, three minutes after they went on sale. It's a big deal. It's a small venue and a great band.

Friday is my sister's birthday. She says sure, she'll go, it'll be fun. Flash forward to her happy birthday dinner and we head out to the venue. Might I add that it's a fairly early door time? 7pm. So I go over to my sister's car and get asked TWICE for a ticket. My sister later informs me who one of the people was. I won't name him, but let's just say his Soul was probably not Satisfied.

We head in, we see some friends, the rock begins, it's amazing. Highlights: opening with a Hank song, Jolene, new songs that sound fantastic, Ball and Biscuit, Cannon, and ending with Seven Nation Army. Now, I wondered how Seven Nation Army would sound, as it's one of my favorites but it seems as though it would be difficult to pay with just two folks. Yes, that's right. It was just Jack and Meg (some dickhead hipster trash turns to Lindsay at one point and says "I can't believe I paid $100 on this ticket and there's no bass player." She had a snide comment for him, as he and his heavy rimmed glasses pushed their way up between us, stepping on her foot several times after). Ok, so back to Seven Nation Army; they sped it up a bit in the last verse. It was great, truly.

Let's see--there were also special edition $5 t-shirts (small only, but perhaps I can transform it, after all my mom did give me a nice book on how to do just that), Jack asked how his new home town of nashville was doing (just great, thankyou!), Jack's gun show (seriously, I don't remember him having nice arms before), Meg and her cymbals (without them they wouldn't be the same, but still...). Oh, and, yes, Heather Byrd; earlier in the night my sister and I questioned whether or not the ubiquitous nightlife columnist would be spotted. Lindsay said no, but sure enough, after the show, ta da! We decided that there needs to be a nashville nightlife bingo, she'd be the center/free square since she somehow manages to be everywhere at once.

Afterwards we headed to Kazu where a gent was playing some really fun music. They played "Humpty Dance" during which my sister commented that she'd been listening to the radio earlier in the day thinking that hearing that one particular song would make her birthday.

    Hell yeah.

    Craft Fair!

I will take this moment to point out that I'm so happy that crafting is cool again. Thanks to Kate's reminder I made it to the Nashville Craft Mafia's craft fair over at the Cannery Ballroom. I have issues with craft fairs--a lot of the time it's stuff I could easily make myself or items I absolutely don't need. So I figured hey, it's saturday, might as well, right? And oh, what a craft fair it was. I walked in unsure, I left completely broke. Here are some of the items I purchased. Please click on the pictures for a larger view. and I do encourage looking at the larger images, I also encourage clicking on the links.
From Maryink. This is the first item I purchased. Mary's items are exactly the sort of prints I would love to do. The shirt is supersoft and the images are adorable.
From Jimiyo. I originally saw his work at the Plowhaus artisan fair but was short on cash at the time. Luckily he had the very shirt (which you can see above) that I wanted.
This is my very favorite purchase, from Nieves Uhl, a killer Luchador felted sweater bag. I. Love. This. She also had some amazing cigar box shrines. I strongly encourage you to click on the link and look at the items in her store. Check back often, she really has some great items and she's a lovely gal. She took a picture of me with the bag, she said it was her favorite.

Firstly, I should state that it is difficult to get a clear picture of Hillbilly Casino because that lead singer Nick Roulette does not stop moving. For reals.

    Secondly, they are excellent.

See, ages ago the schmoovecast had a theme song. It was Glass of Wine by the New Autonomous Folk Singers. I had download another song, PBR, but never used it and kind of forgot about it. So guess who it's by? Hillbilly Casino, bitches.

How much fun is THIS? an ATM! actually, this provided the first drama of the evening as it wouldn't take my card, the son of a bitch

It should be known that I like Billy Graham. He's been in the public eye for a very long time and has remained scandal free (wikipedia has informed me that he's not completely above reproach--see the link below for some controversies he's been involved in). So I was going to kneel in prayer but the rocks around the statue are sharp so I ended up humbling myself a little bit more than I intended.

    Superstar!

Dr Gay is moved by the spirit.

Some info from Wikipedia: Billy Graham is a Southern Baptist who left Bob Jones University because it was too fundamentalist. He is a registered Democrat who votes for who he considers right for the job at the time.

The whole "hanging out with Dr Gay" thing.

After a quick gift exchange, a visit with the family, and a little old school sesame street we were off like a prom dress.

First we headed to Kate's for the annual Solstice Party. Honestly, I could've eaten the entire plate of chess bars. Really, they were excellent. Also there was a round of scattergories where Dr G and I shared first place with John's mom. Some highlights:

person who wears a uniform: dominatrix (Dr Gay)
something made of metal: Dokken (me)

good times! But we were supposed to meet old pal Zach so we headed out to Play, a bar we'd never visited before. Wow. just wow.

First, I should point out that there was this one girl who repeatedly went to the stage to tip the performers. She was absolutely gorgeous--amazing knockout figure, beautiful face, flawless skin. We later found out it was Calpernia Addams, she was apparently performing the next night (that would be tonight if you were wondering). This was a bit interesting as we'd been talking about the film Soldier's Girl on the way there. I thought I saw Joshua of Nemesis, but it really couldn't have been him. could it? I'm still not sure. Signs point to no, but if the twins had doppelgangers this guy could've easily been it.

So we watched the drag performers. It was fun. And while our only listener Samantha couldn't join us we were very glad she sent the lovely Deception in her stead.

After the first show ended we decided to leave. We ended the evening at the Hermitage Cafe, the best place to end an evening.

    Downtown Nashville

I don't spend too much time downtown, I suppose it's my dislike of less than ample parking. There's this crazy hodgepodge of old buildings and new construction with old faded ads and weird exposed sides of buildings that should have never been exposed. I'm thinking one day it might be fun to get a few extra packs of 669 polaroid film and head downtown. But you're not here to read about that sort of thing, if you were you'd be over at lileks.com.

So after a delicious lunch Steve and I headed to the TN State Museum for old timey music and mummy hunting. When my mom was a high schooler the big deal was to get to go to Nashville and see the mummy. It's kind of hidden but well worth finding. The mummy even has a cat. Right now there's this cool exhibit of country music memorabilia, you should go. It did nothing, however, to assuage my desire for some Manuel clothing and/or accessories.

Finally, my trip back home included a stop at the now closing Tower Records. I figured it was as good a time as any. I did manage to get a few things I'd wanted for some time but just never got around to getting.

C'est tout. We're lazy around here.

    Tom Waits for no man

Dear those of you who were at the Basement Nov 25, 2006 and left before it was over,

You missed the best part. You really did.

So for those of you who weren't there it was a Tom Waits tribute and benefit for Toys for Tots. It was my kind of show: lots of bands, short sets, minimal time between sets. As you may have guessed the artists played Tom Waits songs.

What I find disturbing is how many people left. When I got there it was PACKED. I had to park well down the street and when I got in I could barely make it through to the bar. Seriously. By the time the last act started the room was nearly empty.

Lots of amazing performances. My very favorite was Chris Crofton who performed part of his set without any backing music which just emphasized the beauty of the lyrics. His final song just about broke my heart.

Close second was John Wesley Myers who is amazing in any performance. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention his mighty fine ass.

But really, all the acts were great. Sorry y'all missed it.

I should also mention that I was only going to go if I got three pages of my paper done. By 9:30 I was typing my last paragraph on page six so YAY I was ready to go and my paper is done!

Give me some money so I can get high.

I've never hidden my love of Ghostfinger. I love them. I don't think I've seen them in several months and I'm glad to have them back. Last night they performed at the Basement. They started with Rock. Now, you may ask how they can start with Rock? Where can they go from there? Well, all over the place, my friends.

There was something wrong with the sound, though. Or maybe it's just that I forgot my earplugs. My ears are ringing, I'm getting old I suppose.

So then I came home and enjoyed some of my missed thanksgiving desserts. Holy crap, the best apple pie I believe I've ever eaten. Seriously. Did he use granny smith apples? It didn't even need ice cream, that's how good it was. Criminy.

    Honestly

I had forgotten how much I love Hands Down Eugene until I got to the east side tonight. Excellent show.

And then I come home and the dogs are watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
