Disney 11/17/2002: Epcot
Flag found
in the rubble of the World Trade Center.
I called Mears to arrange transportation to Universal and headed to Epcot. I
asked for a birthday button at Guest Services (as recommended by the lady at
Guest Services at Magic Kingdom). I walked right on Journey Into Your Imagination,
and as I was walking through the queue they paged Merlin Jones--I love that
movie! Afterwards I went to Honey I Shrunk the Audience, then off to The Land
for the greenhouse tour. It was interesting. When I was a kid I used to HATE
Listen to the Land but now it's one of my favorites. After it was over it was
time for the Food and Wine Festival! I highly recommend this. My favorite dish
was probably the Durban chicken. Midway through I stopped in the American Adventure
where I took the picture you see above. I only intended to walk in to see the
flag and leave, but then there was a bluegrass band who played (later the same
day I saw the fiddle player from the bluegrass band playing Norwegian folk music).
They were pretty good, and they even played "Tennessee Waltz". After
the show I continued on the Food and Wine Fest, only it seems I consumed more
wine than food and ended up a bit tipsy. In Norway I waited a bit to ride Maelstrom.
In Mexico I decided to ride El Rio del Tiempo, although I'm not sure why...maybe
the wine played a part in my decision? After this I was done with the Food and
Wine fest, so I hit the rest of Future World.
